The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod series was really cool. It starts with 8th Grade Bites & ends with 12th Grade Kills. Vlad is half vampire & finds out that his good friend is a vampire slayer. Better not tell too much....

Some of the new books deal with "heavy" stuff. In RAVEN SUMMER by Almond, two boys stumble upon a baby with a this note "Plese look after her rite. This is a childe of God." Other "heavy" books are THE DOOR OF NO RETURN, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ISLAND, and WAR GAMES. Serious stuff.

New "fun" books are in too. LOST AND FOUND is about twin brothers. They are new in town and school and everyone thinks there is just one Grayson boy. The PS in THE PS BROTHERS stands for Poop and Scoop. Gary Paulsen's NOTES FROM THE DOG is a short but hilarious book.

Please leave comments about the books you read. Also, feel free to suggest books or magazines for the library. Thanks!

THE PORCUPINE YEAR by Louis Erdrich is aobut an Ojibwe family and Omakayas. They lived on Madeline Island but canoe west into rivers of northern MN. It's about spirits and survival in a search for a new home.
